I don't think anybody doubts that if Christian Benteke and Daniel Sturridge could stay fit then Liverpool would have a pretty potent forward line. Between the two of them they have enough pace, power and skill to put any team in the league to the sword. But with Sturridge pulling up lame every other week and Benteke struggling to find full fitness since his summer move to Anfield it is no wonder that new boss, Jurgen Klopp, is thought to be on the look out for another striker to join him in January. The English press have cottoned on to the possibility and the rumour mill is spinning at full tilt as the latest transfer window approaches. I have no doubt that a new striker will arrive at the club in the coming months, but will it be any of these five.
According to reports in the very reliable UK news paper, The Independent, this one is already a done deal.
“There is an agreement in principle with Liverpool for the transfer in the coming weeks. Liverpool await, there are a few missing details, but Klopp will have a new reinforcement and for Pato the Premier League will be a new springboard," Corinthians President Roberto de Andrade.
The former AC Milan striker is currently plying his trade in Brazil with Corinthians where some indifferent form saw him sent out on loan to Sao Paulo. Here he rediscovered some of the form that made him a star over in Italy bagging 19 goals in just over 50 league appearances. At only 26 and with 27 Brazil caps to his name and a price tag of only 14 million GBP this could prove to be a good little bit of business for Jurgen Klopp if he can get it over the line.
Leicester striker Jamie Vardy has shocked everybody this season with his goal scoring form and is rightly being looked at by some of the country's top clubs. It seems The Foxes are willing to let their prized asset leave if their valuation of 15 million GBP is met. The English rag known as, Metro, seem to think that Liverpool and Tottenham will battle it out for his signature in January and if Brendan Rodgers was still in charge I would sincerely believe it. But he' not and I seriously think Jurgen Klopp is after someone with a little more proven experience to help see the season through.
Jurgen Klopp tried to sign his fellow German while at Borussia Dortmund. It is also rumoured that the 31 year old turned down the opportunity to join the reds under Brendan Rodgers, but with talks over a new Bayer Leverkusen contract stalling it seems a move to Anfield could now happen. with over 120 goals in his Bendesliga career there is no doubting that Kiessling knows where the back of the net is and he could prove to be a valuable asset as Klopp looks to rebuild his current squad.
WHO????? The 22 year old Senegalese striker is currently struggling for game time at Fiorentina in Italy. He does have four Serie A goals to his name this season and doesn't get injured walking from his car to the training track so I can see why people think Liverpool could be interested. I personally think it's a long shot though and any rumours currently doing the rounds were probably started by an eager agent looking to score his client a big time move.
Now this is the name that all reds fans want to hear arriving at Anfield. The Polish international is an absolute goal machine and at 27 he could still have his best years ahead of him. Many people think there is no way that Bayern Munich's current number nine would even consider the move, but those same people also said Jurgen Klopp would never manage Liverpool. It is a long shot I known, but Klopp obviously wants him and if their relationship is strong enough it could very well happen. The move would more than likely happen next summer though as I can't see Lewandowski giving up a very real opportunity to win this seasons Champions League title with Bayern by switching to Merseyside in January.
