New Liverpool signing Danny Ings was all set to make his full debut for the club late on against Stoke City last week. The former Burnley player was desperate to make an impact and it would have marked an amazing milestone in his career. But the party at the Ings house was put on hold when the man he was about to replace found a yard of space before lashing home the winner in typical spectacular style.
The England U21 international told the clubs official website that he was itching for some action, but says that he will continue to work hard and is determined to take his chance when it finally comes.
“When I got the signal that I was coming on, I was really excited,” he told Liverpoolfc.com. “I kept looking at the clock to see how much time I had to make an impression.
“It wasn’t to be but I’ll always make sure that I’m ready and willing to work hard for the team.”
Liverpool will face off against EPL new boys Bournemouth on Monday night where a win could really set them up for a decent start to the season. Ings will not be the only one hoping to impress in front of the Kop. Brazilian Firmino is also keen to win over fans by continuing the form that saw him bag a hat trick against Welsh side TNS in a friendly earlier in the week.
